Every little girl grows up pretending to be a disney princess. I grew up pretending to be the pop star that voiced them. When I was four years old, I decided a family event was the time to test out my audience and began singing “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas. After I finished singing, my uncle told my parents that they needed to put me in classes, and he made me promise him that he would be the first person thanked an my Tony Award acceptance speech. Not soon after, my older cousin would take my twin sister, Emily, and I and direct us in her self-written plays. We had no choice to play along, so I decided to start flexing my acting muscles and enjoy it!
Ever since that moment I have loved being on stage. In the second grade I was in my first production, then I decided to take some time off and try out sports (ie. Soccer and Ice Hockey), I always came back to my passion, performing. My senior year of high school, our school musical was “A Chorus Line”, I played Connie. Being a part of that production showed me that performing is truly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I graduated from Indiana University in 2014 with a B.A. in Theatre and Drama and a minor in Dance. While there I studied acting and musical theatre and took part in a productions such as “Aida”, “Cartoon”, and “35mm: a Musical Exhibition”. During my Junior year I took a semester and studied Acting in London at the British American Drama Academy. It was a life-changing experience that taught me so much about theatre but also so much about myself.
There are three things that make me who I am, my semester abroad, my 11 years at overnight camp, and my family. Without those three things and the people I have met through camp and my semester abroad I would not be where I am today. Pushing myself and pursuing a career that I truly love doing each day.
